The Bathurst Agricultural Society is a registered Non-profit organisation which was formed on the 12th of April 1848 (firstly known as the Lower Albany Agricultural Society, until the 25th of August 1903), making the society one of the oldest agricultural societies in South Africa. The Bathurst Agricultural Society is dedicated to supporting the future of the agricultural and affiliated industries in the Eastern Cape and works tirelessly to manage and maintain the showgrounds throughout the year. The society aims to highlight the importance of the agricultural sector whilst continuing to uphold and honour the societies past successes and traditions.

Survival of The Bathurst Agricultural Society has always relied on the support from sponsors, volunteers and the community.

Our biggest annual event is The Bathurst Agricultural Show. Our first show dates back to the 6th of March 1850, which makes it one of the oldest and over the years has grown to become the biggest in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. In addition to the show, our beautiful grounds and facilities are utilised by the local community for a wide variety of events throughout the year.
